Catherine Tasiima

Catherine Tasiima, 14, lost her father, Sam Musedde, in 1994 when she was just two years. She now stays at upper Kauga village with her uncle, Dick Musedde, who is currently bed-ridden due to HIV/AIDS. Her uncle, Dick, has been paying her fees but stopped since he got sick. FINIDP was to take up Catherine under the Orphans Secondary Education Support Project (OSESP), funded by Alliance Africa but missed the opportunity because her other uncle, Kefa, had offered to pay for her fees.  Unfortunately, due to unavoidable circumstances Kefa paid Catherine’s fees only for the first term and abandoned her. So Catherine has spent the whole of 2nd term at home.

Academically, Catherine is a very good performer. Catherine said: “I want to be a medical doctor.” When asked about the possibility of his uncle, Kefa, resuming paying her fees Catherine had this to say: “uncle Kefa has never helped me in life except for the first term and it was not my surprise when he didn’t send money for second term.” “It has always been my sick uncle Dick to pay my fees, and now that he is suffering from HIV/AIDS, my future is uncertain.”
