Previous | Home | Next George Ssenabulya George Ssenabulya, 15, lost his father, Emmanuel Ssenabulya Musisi, to a car accident on September 11, 2003. George narrated: “my life has not been easy since my father died; when he was still around he could give me clothes, school fees and other school requirements, but when he died my studies declined.” Talking about his family George said: “I have two brothers and three sisters.” George currently lives in a rented labour-line house in Nakiwate, a suburb of Nakifuma with his mother, Catherine Nantale. George is in senior two (S.2) at Nakanyonyi Senior Secondary School, but he is frequently chased from school to look for fees. When asked about his most pressing problems, George confessed: “I lack basic necessities; beddings, clothing, books and paraffin to enable me read at night and to compete favourably with fellow students in boarding section.” “I would like to be sponsored and get better education because my mother has a burden of other children to look after.” “I usually miss tests at the beginning of the term, because our school doesn’t allow in students without paying any money.” “In addition my mother can not afford my scholastic materials such as books, uniforms and lunch fees.” “When our dad was still alive he cautioned us to be God-fearing people, respect elders and give education the first priority.” George’s academic performance is impressive and hopefully it could be improved if his problems were solved. “My ambition is to become a priest or Journalist and help those in need when I get money.”
