Previous | Home | Next Lawrence Lwanyaga Lawrence Lwanyaga, 12, lost his father, Ponsiano Nyanzi, to HIV/AIDS in 2004. Lawrence is in primary five (P.5) at Seeta Umea Primary school. Lawrence has three brothers and one sister. Lawrence lives at Seeta Ntinda zone with his mother, Annet Nalule, who is also suffering from HIV/AIDS. This was evident when FINIDP staffs, Mukasa and Dan, visited Annet’s home. Lawrence’s ailing mother relies entirely on subsistence farming, and she makes mats after farm work as a means of supplementing her meagre income, but the living conditions at her home revealed a lot of constraints to the family. In his application letter to FINIDP Lawrence said: “life was good when both my parents were still alive but now life totally changed to the worse, I have poor beddings, the feeding isn’t good and I don’t get my school fees and school requirements in time and I’m worried that my performance is declining.” Lawrence said: “I fetch water to get money to buy books, pens and part of my school fees; the balance is paid by my uncle, Senkayi Joseph, a boda boda cyclist who transports people on a motorbike.” “The only thing my mother can afford in feeding me, but it’s obvious that she struggles to feed us.” Fortunately Lawrence is a hard working boy judging from his academic records and his ambition is to become a teacher. Lawrence further said: “I want to get education support because I want to lead an easy life when I grow up, God willing.” “I pray to God to bless the efforts of those who are struggling to link me and other needy children to sponsors.”
