Steven Mutyaba

Steven Mutyaba, 13, lost his father, Kenedy Munabi, in 1996 to malaria. Steven has one brother and one sister, all of them currently live in a rented small house at Basiima Kikooza village- Mukono with their mother, Jane Namutebi. Jane is a peasant farmer and a tailor who can hardly meet the needs of her orphaned children. Steven is in senior one (S.1) at St. John S.S. – Mukono.

Steven narrated: “my fees have never been paid in time and I’m ever sent back home, while my colleagues continue with studies, it’s hard for me to catch up with them.” Steven’s mother added: “……… sometimes Steven is sent back to me for fees when I don’t even have any money at home and what I have always done is pleading to school officials and I now suspect that they are tired of my excuses.” Steven said: “I currently do not perform very well but I would have performed much better if I was settled, I have always consoled my self with prayer to the Almighty God to come and intervene in my life.” “I need a sponsor and someone to share my miseries with, I promise not to disappoint you, in the name of God.”

“I’m humbly calling upon any kind-hearted person to come to my rescue and support my studies; I’m almost dropping out of school because my mother earns a meagre income to take all of us to school.” “I will be very grateful if my request is considered; I promise to work hard to realise my dreams.”  Steven is an average student in terms of class performance and his ambition is to become a medical doctor. When asked about why Steven felt that he was the the most suitable candidate for sponsorship, he had this to say: “I want to receive that education sponsorship to continue my studies so that in future I can help the needy children and my family if all goes well under God’s will.”
